Aurora Sinai Medical Center announces a free Ice Cream Social at the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Breastfeeding Support Event, Thursday, May 19th from 2:00pm-4:00pm to be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 1531 W. Vliet Street, Milwaukee. Please call 414-219-3662 by Friday, May 6th to register.
“This is an exciting time to be part of breastfeeding support with the passing of the new law in our state, “Reasonable Breaktime for Mothers” and the support of breastfeeding on Michelle Obama’s agenda to address childhood obesity,” said Aurora WIC Manager, Jen Agnello
WIC Nutritionist, Tonya Temple added, “WIC is continually looking at barriers to breastfeeding initiation and duration within our community as we know it addresses the larger issue of health disparities in the African American community. One of the most common reasons women choose not to breastfeed or stop prematurely is having to return to work or school.”
Every year in the spring the Aurora Sinai WIC Program hosts a breastfeeding support event and invites mothers and guest speakers to look at a specific component of breastfeeding support. This year we have titled it. “Breastfeeding Mothers At Work: Community Support For Working Mothers”.
