Catholics United for Racial Justice presents renowned theologian & author Father Bryan N. Massingale program

November 13, 2010

In honor of Black Catholic History Month, Catholics United for Racial Justice presents A Morning with Fr. Bryan N. Massingale, well known theologian and author of Racial Justice and the Catholic Church, November 20, 8:30 am – Noon. The event will take place at All Saints Catholic Church-Parish Hall, 4051 N. 25th Street.

The program is free and open to the public and features Fr. Bryan talking about his new book, Racial Justice and the Catholic Church.

The presentation will provide participants the opportunity to dialogue with Fr. Bryan about the history of racial relations in America and in the Catholic Church. Participants will gain understanding and awareness of the Catholic Church’s position and response to racism in this country since the time of slavery. Participants will also increase their empathy and compassion towards victims of racism and understanding of society’s prevailing attitudes based on race in America.

These honest and compelling conversations will result in greater awareness of the importance of racial justice not only in the Church but also in the community.

Pre-registration is requested by November 18 by calling 414.444.5610 or 414.372.3090. Co-sponsored by the Province of St. Joseph of the Capuchin Order and by Marquette University Office of Mission and Ministry, there is no cost for this event.
