Help those in your community this Thanksgiving

November 6, 2010

Support local patients and food banks

As the weather gets colder and the holiday season approaches, the need of those less fortunate grows. Blood donors can help patients while also helping a local family have a better holiday.

BloodCenter of Wisconsin’s Thanks for Giving campaign offers donors the opportunity to give back to the community in another way. For every 40 donors that donate with BloodCenter of Wisconsin from November 8-20, Blood- Center of Wisconsin will donate a turkey to the Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee and several other food banks throughout Wisconsin. Blood- Center’s goal is to distribute 250 turkeys to Wisconsin families this November.

Anyone who is in general good health and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to donate blood. The entire process takes about an hour and all blood types are needed. Donors should bring a photo ID.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 1-877-BE-A-HERO or visit www.bcw.edu.
