When I think of whom I want for the next governor of state of Wisconsin, I cannot help but to want to have someone who I know will work my community and will work for me.
I want a governor who I know I can trust and someone who I know I can count on, to speak for the whole state of Wisconsin, not just special interest groups.
That is why, come Nov. 2nd, I will feel confident and proud when I walk into the voting both and vote for Tom Barrett as the next governor for the state of Wisconsin.
When compared to Tom Barrett, Scott Walker is too extreme and is out of touch with the people of Wisconsin.
Important to my community and myself is education. If Walker is elected, he plans to cut parts of our public education system in order to pay for his $1.8 billion tax cuts for the rich. Since the state is already facing a $2.7 billion structural deficit, this $1.8 billion tax giveaway would hurt key priorities like education. Already, local communities count on two-thirds support from the state- this helps to keep class size down, put resources in the room and support the local kids in my community. In order to have our children succeed, they need to be provided a good public education and under Walker, I fear, because I know, that that will not be possible.
Tom Barrett on the other hand can be trusted to care of every child in the state that is under the public school system, not just the richest. Barrett has made education a priority in his campaign, this is because he knows that it is key to creating jobs, growing business and bringing a successful future to Wisconsin.
Barrett will protect students from K till college. He will make sure that students have the right material and classroom atmosphere needed in order to produce the brightest students. Further, when our students are ready to advance their education, Barrett will work hard to make college more affordable and accessible for Wisconsin’s working and middle class families. Under Tom Barrett, I can trust that my children and their friends will have the same opportunity as every other student across the state of Wisconsin, regardless of race, wealth, religion and/or living location.
Another important issue that people should consider prior to Nov. 2nd is BadgerCare. Scott Walker has shifted his position on BadgerCare so many times, it is impossible to know what he will really do with the program. First, he said he would cut it entirely, then he said he would put term limits on the program, and then he said he would make it harder for the average Wisconsinite to qualify. He has flip-flopped on BadgerCare so many times, having such a valuable program in his hands is dangerous and threatening to my family, friends and me.
Not only can we not trust Walker with important institutions and programs that influence our everyday lives, like education and BadgerCare, but Walker is just too extreme for state of Wisconsin .
If Walker has it his way, he would cut government funding for embryonic stem cell research and Walker supports allowing individual pharmacists to refuse filling legal, pre-authorized birth control prescriptions, based on their personal views. These are just two examples of Walker’s extreme beliefs. We should not allow him to become governor and find out what other extreme views he may have.
That is why, come Nov. 2nd , I will be voting for Tom Barrett, the adult in the room. He has clear plans to create jobs and put state government on a diet. Walker cannot be trusted, because time and time again, he has proven that he will do or say anything to get elected, he has no record on jobs and owns an awful history of reckless mismanagement. The future of Wisconsin is at stake. We need Tom Barrett as out next governor, he is a true leader and will move our state forward.
