Special Collector’s Edition brings bankable stars and much more
It’s time to celebrate – Ebony is 65! The magazine America has grown to love and cherish is making a big splash to commemorate over six decades of telling our stories like no one else. To start, we have lush photographs on a special gatefold cover of Samuel L. Jackson, Usher and Nia Long, Mary J. Blige and Taraji P. Henson.
In this one of a kind issue, we honor some of Ebony’s most iconic past covers: Duke Ellington, Diana Ross, Shaft and Martin Luther King reimagined with the help of yet more fresh, modern celebrities like Regina King, Yolanda Adams and John Legend. It took two high-energy photo shoots in New York and Los Angeles to bring to life this remarkable issue. And as an added bonus, we’ve captured the behind-the-scenes blood, sweat and tears that went into the making of Ebony65 which you can see on ebony.com.
Our special collector’s edition will also feature a new report – The Black America 2010: The State We’re In. Readers will find provocative and thoughtful essays authored by seven of Black America’s celebrated visionaries, such as Bill Cosby, Soledad O’Brien and Robert L. Johnson.
This festive issue has something for everyone, with lush photography, smart commentary, and on the serious side, a nuanced look back at Black America, 65 years ago – a remarkable and compelling story.
And just for fun, we’ve sprinkled in lists of our editors’ picks of the:
- 65 movies you ought to own
- 65 Stories that rocked our community
- 65 music hits of all time
- 65 books for every African American home library
