The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee (the Y) has announced the launch of Neighbors Teaching Neighbors (NTN), a program focused on celebrating diversity and bringing the community together to share talents and skills.
Neighbors Teaching Neighbors programming will run weekly from October 24 through December 17 at the Parklawn (4340 N. 46th Street, Milwaukee) and John C. Cudahy (9050 N. Swan Road, Milwaukee) YMCAs, and feature low-cost classes such as Entrepreneurship 101, Microsoft Office 2007, Garden in the Winter, Easy Recipes for Busy People, Basic Drawing, Developing Leaders at all Ages, Reiki 101, and a variety of different styles of dance classes.
Classes fees will range from $13 to $19 for members and $19 to $27 for community participants. Some classes may require an additional fee for course materials. To register, visit any Metropolitan YMCA location.
Classes are unique in that instructors are community residents who desire to share their passions with other adults and in a community-oriented exchange.
“Neighbors Teaching Neighbors will enrich the local community by providing an opportunity for community members to learn new skills, form valuable relationships and serve as a platform for continued community collaboration,” said Mike Soika, vice president of Social Responsibility, YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee. “This is an excellent opportunity to expand our offerings and embrace the talents of the local community, and it demonstrates the Y’s commitment to embracing and serving the changing needs of our community.”
