St. Francis of Assisi Parish, a Capuchin parish, will be offering free tax preparation service this tax season. Tax forms are submitted electronically to the IRS.
Trained volunteers will be assisting those who are unable to afford tax consulting. There are no fees associated for this service and everyone is welcome, particularly senior citizens and those with low income.
Tax assistance begins January 30 and runs through April 15 on Saturdays, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. On April 15, the service is available 5-9 PM. It is available at St. Francis Parish, 1927 N. Fourth Street. Enter through the back door on the 5th Street side.
Individuals should bring a picture ID and a Social Security card for each individual who is named on the return. Funding of the program is through grants from Potawatomi and St. Francis of Assisi parish.
