Milwaukee County Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic was joined by County Supervisor Nikiya Harris and Jason Haas at a news conference this week to update the public on environmental and conservation achievements made possible through implementation of the “Green Print” legislation, which was authored by Supervisor Dimitrijevic and went into effect in 2007.
At the event, the Supervisors accepted a $26,197 check, from Focus on Energy to Milwaukee County, for energy efficient upgrades completed at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The grant recognizes the reduced energy consumption achieved through solar panels installed at the parking lot entrance booths. One of Milwaukee County’s 35 new Ford Fusion Hybrid vehicles was also on display at the event.
“The Green Print is paying off for Milwaukee County residents. These savings show that by going green, we can save green. I thank Focus on Energy for providing this rebate check to Milwaukee County taxpayers,” Supervisor Dimitrijevic said. “We have already achieved nearly $10 million in energy savings upgrades to Milwaukee County’s infrastructure, and we will continue to modernize our buildings and operations in the months and years to come.”
