When it comes to trust, I know that I cannot trust Scott Walker. I cannot trust what he says, I cannot trust his actions, and I know I cannot trust him to run the state of Wisconsin.
Walker is a trickster and has a history and poor record to prove it.
The first example of Walker’s trickery ways is his history of flip-flops. He has flip-flopped on several important issues, and continues to do so as the campaign continues.
Important to my community and myself, Walker has flipped on his position on BadgerCare. Put together by bi-partisan effort, Walker has changed his stance on BadgerCare several times while on the campaign trail. First, he was entirely against BadgerCare, then he wanted to put term limits on Badger- Care, and now he wants to make it harder for applicants to receive BadgerCare. He does not have a clear stance, how can we expect him to protect such a valuable but now vulnerable program.
Next, he flip-flopped on the smoking ban in hours, the Arizona law in days, and most recently, he has flip-flopped on his position on toll roads. Scott Walker is not being honest with the people of Wisconsin. He has not only flip-flopped on tolls, but he is pushing an idea to create a lane for the wealthy. This basically means, while the rest of us sit in traffic, the privileged and rich can zip on by, how unfair is that?
Not only does Walker have issue keeping one stance on important issues that affect the people of Wisconsin, but he is also too extreme.
When it comes to women, Scott Walker does not think they should be allowed to make choices for their own bodies. Walker supports the idea that individual pharmacists should be allowed to refuse to fill legal, pre-authorized birth control prescriptions based on their personal views. Further, Walker opposes abortion, including in instances of rape, incest, and in cases where the mother’s life is at stake.
Not only is Walker too extreme when it comes to women, but he is too extreme when it comes to advancing Wisconsin. If Walker is elected, he would cut government spending for embryonic stem cell research. Scientists have confirmed that this type of research is our best hope for curing devastating diseases like juvenile diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Parkinson’s, heart disease and spinal cord injuries. He is willing to shut down one of our most notable medical breakthroughs and growing economic opportunities in our state. He will not move our state forward, if anything, he is holding us back.
Although many important issues were covered, there is still one that I find most important. If Walker is elected, he would hurt and bring down our education system. On his website, his plans to help progress our education system in Wisconsin is minimum and broad. He has to details and he has no plan.
Not only does his page lack any real substance, but it does not even touch on higher education. Further, Walker plans on making cuts to our education programs, in order to pay for his $1.8 billion in tax cuts for the rich. If anything is evident, it is that Scott Walker does not care for the people of Wisconsin.
From doing my research I have learned that Scott Walker is a trickster. He will say one thing and do another. He cannot be trusted and will say or do anything to try and get elected. He does not have the people of Wisconsin in mind; he only has his fat cat donors and the richest 1 percent of Wisconsin in mind when he makes plans. On Nov. 2nd I will be voting for someone I can trust, I will be voting for Tom Barrett.
