Capital Campaign fuels relocation for Alzheimer’s Association
The Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Wisconsin chapter, recently moved into a new home at 620 S 76th Street, Suite 160 in Milwaukee. The move was made possible by a year-long capital campaign launched by the Association which raised $258,600 and involved the support and investment of a number of local foundations and individuals. The new offices were designed from the ground up to be a highly functional space that will enhance team work and productivity among the Association’s 24 employees and many volunteers.

Twenty children’s charities from southeastern Wisconsin are splitting $1,004,651 tonight, after Potawatomi Bingo Casino announced the money raised during their Miracle on Canal Street program. Each charity received $50,232. This is the fifth consecutive year the program has raised more than $1 million since it began in 1994.
Money for the program is raised though special Miracle bingo games, and a few special events. The funds have been accumulating throughout the year and the 2009 total was revealed during an event tonight in the Casino’s Nest of Life Bingo Hall.

The respite care program, located within The Salvation Army Emergency Lodge, 1730 N. 7th St., provides shelter for up to 20 medically needy homeless individuals to stabilize their health problems. The program is available to single men and women, who are self care, have an acute medical condition and need 24 hour shelter.
The mission of the program is to provide a safe place for patients to rest and recuperate while working to resolve their homelessness. Each resident works individually with a nurse and case manager to develop a case plan …
