On May 14, County Executive Chris Abele announced that he’d be running for re-election. Abele was elected in 2011 and said he has so much more to do, which is why he’s running again.
According to a Facebook post made by Abele, he’s tried his best to do what’s best for the County and will continue to do so if reelected.
“I have a ton more I want to do at the County,” said Abele.
To start his campaign off right, Abele held a campaign kickoff this prior Monday. The sole purpose of this event was to bring Abele and his supporters together to have a good time, while also supporting Abele’s endeavors to be re-elected.
According to the event description, this event wasn’t for contributions— they weren’t being accepted during the kickoff anyway—instead it was a time for free food and fun. Food and drinks were provided by Bright Cellars, MobCraft Beer and Buffalo Boss.
Abele said with the team he has now, the question should be “Why would I leave?” and not “Why am I running again?”
“I love Milwaukee,” said Abele. “I’m not doing this for the political spotlight.”
The kickoff was full of Abele supporters from all works of life, from community residents to political counterparts, and throughout it all, Abele was seen with a smile.
If re-elected, Abele said he will continue to work with the state about funding local government. With a new governor in office, Abele said he knows change can and will happen.
