Tour the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., with the Friends. Free tours begin at 11 a.m. each Saturday afternoon in the rotunda. Tour goers receive a coupon for a free book at the end of the tour in the Bookseller Store and Café. To arrange for a special tour call (414) 286-TOUR.

Spotlight Exhibit Series
The Spotlight Exhibit Series will showcase rotating exhibits from the Milwaukee Public Library’s Rarities Collection at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Tuesday, November 8, 12-7 p.m. in the Richard E. and Lucile Krug Rare Books Room. Stop in to view the reception room and enjoy a self-guided tour of prints, posters, illuminated manuscripts, and other treasures not normally on display to the public.
Patent Searching 101
Central Library business librarians will explain the seven-step strategy for conducting a patent search at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Thursday, November 10, 12-1:30 p.m. This program is free and offered monthly. While librarians cannot do a patent search for you, these monthly programs will demonstrate how to get started by following the USPTO guidelines.
NaNoWriMo Rescue
Have you set out on your National Novel Writing Month adventure only to find yourself…stuck? Join writing coach and the author Rochelle Melander for a writing workshop that will help you overcome writer’s block and solve those pesky plot problems at Central Library, 814 W. The Rep’s A Christmas Carol
Milwaukee Repertory Theater artists will perform carols and share information about the company’s brand new adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” premiering at the Pabst Theater this holiday season at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Saturday, November 12, 12-12:30 p.m. A great opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit and celebrate Charles Dickens’ beloved novel.
Welcome to Bronzeville: A Theater and Spoken Word Workshop for Teens with First Stage
First Stage’s play, Welcome to Bronzeville, is a beautiful celebration of a historic and revered Milwaukee
neighborhood near the Martin Luther King branch. Participants in this workshop at M.L. King Library, 310 W. Locust St. on Saturday, November 12, 1-3 p.m. will perform a scene from the play hand-in-hand with Sheri Williams Pannell, playwright and director of Welcome to Bronzeville; participate in a Spoken Word workshop; and perform spoken word creations in response to the themes in Welcome to Bronzeville. Participants will receive a coupon for discounted tickets to the play courtesy of First Stage. Ayurveda: The Science of Life Through Local and Seasonal Foods.
