Tour the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., with the Friends. Free tours begin at 11 a.m. each Saturday afternoon in the rotunda. Tour goers receive a coupon for a free book at the end of the tour in the Bookseller Store and Café. To arrange for a special tour call (414) 286-TOUR.

Plan Your NaNoWriMo Novel!
Every November thousands take the National Novel Writing Month challenge and sign up to write a 50,000-word novel in 30 days! In this kick off workshop led by the author of the NaNoWriMo Guide, Write-A-Thon: Write Your Book in 26 Days (and Live to Tell About It), you’ll plan your novel, work on exercises to help you choose your genre, create characters, and imagine what might happen! The workshop will be held at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Monday, October 31, 6-7 p.m. in Community Room 1.
Research Skills 101
Hone your research skills and learn how the library can help you with that paper you’re writing! In this workshop, learn how to search for information, evaluate the information you’ve found, and use that information in your research. Presented by a librarian from the Milwaukee Public Library at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Tuesday, November 1, 6-7 p.m.

Database expert T.J. Pridle explains how to use Reference USA to find customers, study competition and design a business plan for financial backing at Central Library, 814 W. Childhood experiences such as abuse, neglect, and abandonment can have a significant impact on immediate mental and physical health, as well as increase the risk for long-term consequences. In collaboration with the College Access Center and College Goal Wisconsin, MPL is proud to offer FREE & professional on-site assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at Mill Road Library, 6431 N. 76th St., Wednesday, November 2, 6-7:45 p.m. The FAFSA is the form students need to complete each year to be considered for grants and loans to help pay for college. Attend and you will not only have the opportunity to complete your FAFSA, you will also be entered for a chance to win a scholarship! Students should attend with a parent or guardian if possible. Dream Keepers Writing Circle
Calling all young writers ages 9-13.
