Tour the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., with the Friends. Free tours begin at 11 a.m. each Saturday afternoon in the rotunda. Tour goers receive a coupon for a free book at the end of the tour in the Bookseller Store and Café. To arrange for a special tour call (414) 286-TOUR.

ACE: Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences
Childhood experiences such as abuse, neglect, and abandonment can have a significant impact on immediate mental and physical health, as well as increase the risk for long-term consequences. Learn about these Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their relation to brain development at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Monday, September 12, 12-1 p.m. Presented by ACE interface trainer, Michael Joranger, LCSW. Mr. Joranger has more than 30 years of child welfare experience in a variety of settings.
Florentine Opera Company Sister Carrie Book Club
In anticipation of the world premiere of a new American opera, Sister Carrie, join the Florentine Opera Company in an exploration of the groundbreaking Theodore Dreiser novel of the same name at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Monday, September 12, 6-7 p.m. Sister Carrie follows Carrie Meeber, a young woman from rural Wisconsin on the eve of the 20th century as she migrates to the big city and ultimately becomes a Broadway star. Legal and Financial Planning for Individuals with Health Concerns
This two-part program is designed to help individuals affected by dementia, their care partners and family members better understand the legal and financial issues that may have an impact on them. 25-Cent Used Book Sale
Used book sale sponsored by Friends of the Milwaukee Public Library in Community Room 1 at the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Saturday, September 17, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. All proceeds benefit the library. Friends members may enter sales 30-minutes before the public with current membership card. There will be a 2-for-1 sale in the Bookseller Used Book Store during the sale. Coincides with Doors Open Milwaukee.
