Direct Supply Continues its Investment and Job Creation in Milwaukee’s Northwest Side

direct-supply-logoMilwaukee – Governor Scott Walker announced Direct Supply’s certification under the WEDC Enterprise Zone Program to earn up to $22.5 million in state income tax credits based on the company’s future job growth and retention of its current workforce.

“Direct Supply is proud to continue its investment and job creation on its campus on Milwaukee’s northwest side,” said Bob Hillis, Direct Supply founder and Chief Executive Officer.

“We look forward to continuing to partner with the State of Wisconsin, the City of Milwaukee and partners throughout the community as we continue to grow our campus and add jobs.”

An employee-owned company, Direct Supply employs approximately 1,100 and plans for the creation of up to 800 full-time employment positions at its campus on the Northwest side of Milwaukee over the next seven years.

The company also employs approximately 100 employee-owners at its Technology & Innovation Center on the campus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering in downtown Milwaukee.

“The announcement today will help us continue to attract and retain highly talented individuals to our state, our city, our company and our campus,” said Bob Klein, Direct Supply’s Chief Administrative Officer.

“We need all the talent we can get, particularly among STEM-trained and experienced individuals, to continue our mission to improve the lives of America’s seniors.”

“We are also proud that our employee-owners work with educational institutions and community organizations to help develop and nurture young people in the City,” said Sharon Jordan, Senior Manager of Community Relations at Direct Supply. “We have strong educational and community partnerships that help develop young talent, with organizations such as Marquette University, MSOE and UWM, as well as the Boys and Girls Clubs, the YMCA, Junior Achievement and MPS STEM showcase.”

The company recently announced plans to build a corporate headquarters building on its campus to house its next 800 employee- owners, and recently received permission from the City of Milwaukee to close a portion of Industrial Road that runs through its campus, to enhance vehicle safety.
