AKA Playground Mobilization and Backpack Impact Day Announced

MADISON – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s Upsilon Mu Omega chapter will be holding their Playground mobilization and backpack impact day this month. AKA’s efforts are designed to provide high impact programs to provide healthy environments and improve the quality of life in underserved communities. As an AKA member, Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) partners with AKA on their efforts. The group will join thousands of fellow AKA members across the nation to help 1,908 community and school playgrounds with their “Restore, Refresh, Renew” project. This year, the group will build a new floral garden at Thurston Woods Campus’ playground.

This year, the group will build a new floral garden at a school playground

WHERE:         Thurston Woods Campus, 5966 N. 35th Street, Milwaukee, WI

WHEN:           May 21 from 8:30am – Noon

 Note: Local elected officials will be in attendance to thank the volunteers for their important work. Members of the media are encouraged to attend between 8:30am – 10am when special guests will be present.
