The Milwaukee Area Technical College District Board recently announced District 1 Alderman Ashanti Hamilton has been appointed to serve on the board. The board also reappointed Ann Wilson of Hillside Family Resource Center and Abdulhamid Ali, CEO of DAAR Engineering.
Hamilton will replace District 12 Alderman Jose Perez, who served from 2012 until now. He is the sole elected official on the board based on a bill that passed in 2012 stating MATC board should include one elected official. Ali has been on the board since 2014 and Wilson was appointed in 2006. Their terms will go from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2019.
Hamilton, Wilson and Ali were appointed by the board appointment committee which includes Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, Washington County Supervisor Rich Gundrum, Milwaukee County Board Chairman Theodore Lipscomb and Ozaukee County Board Chairman Lee Schlenvogt.
