Maria Hamilton, the mother of Dontre Hamilton, a 31-year-old unarmed black man shot fourteen times for sleeping in a public park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin – will be in Washington D.C. this weekend for the Inaugural Million Moms March against police brutality. Mothers from across the country are joining Mothers For Justice United on May 9th — which is Maria’s birthday, and the one year anniversary of the day she buried her son — they will march to the Department of Justice to present their demands, in the name of their children and to say “No More”.
Upon arriving in Washington D.C. on Friday, May 8th supporters of the Million Moms March will be lobbying on Capitol Hill from 8:00AM – 12:00PM. Following the lobbying, mothers and supporters will gather for an Afternoon Social at the John Marshall Place Park from 1:00PM – 4:00PM.
