Tenor and Veritas High Schools Rank 2 and 3 for City of Milwaukee on State Report Card

September 25, 2014

Seeds of Health and the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee are pleased to announce that two of their charter schools, Tenor High School and Veritas High School, are at the top of the list of public high schools in the City of Milwaukee.

Tenor High School ranked second and Veritas High School ranked third in the 2013-2014 Wisconsin Department of Education School Report Scores and Ratings. Tenor High School, opened in 2005, is a public charter school chartered through the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

At Tenor, students are given the opportunity to earn their high school diploma and college credits while attending classes at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) their senior year.

Veritas High School, opened in 2001, is a public charter school chartered through the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as well.

Veritas educates high school students who are planning to attend college and offers an academically challenging, values-based curriculum in a safe and supportive environment with small class sizes and personalized instruction. Tenor High School and Veritas High School are both programs of Seeds of Health, Inc.

Both Tenor and Veritas have received recognition locally and nationally, including recent awards by U.S. News & World Report for America’s Best High Schools in 2014.

Seeds of Health, Inc., which was founded in 1983, is the only K-12 charter school district in the state of Wisconsin serving approximately 1,200 students in four high schools and a K-8 elementary program.

The five individual and unique educational programs serve a broad range of student needs – from atrisk to the college bound. The schools have proven themselves by performing well in comparison to MPS and the state as well as in comparison to national norms.

As a result, three of the programs have met the criteria for high performing schools.

Seeds of Health is Milwaukee’s innovative “home grown” answer to imaginative, collaborative, and cutting-edge education options with the vision to positively impact the growth and development of urban children.
