A low-income community representative will be selected in a Special Election September 13th for the Social Development Commission (SDC) Board of Commissioners.
The Special SDC Board Election will be held for the agency’s District One. That district includes Milwaukee’s Northwest side plus Milwaukee County’s northern and western suburban communities.
The election will fill the seat on the 18 person SDC Board previously held by Kristina McHenry. Ms. McHenry recently stepped down from the Board when she took a position on the staff of Senator Ron Johnson.
The SDC Board helps draw up and implement policy for the anti-poverty agency.
Residents of the district interested in becoming a candidate on the ballot should pick up a candidate packet at SDC’s 4041 N. Richards Street building.
Those packets are available Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 5 pm. Nomination papers with at least 200 valid signatures of district residents are due back by 5pm on Monday, August 26.
Voting for the new Board representative will take place September 13 between 8 am and 6 pm at the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center located at 5460 N. 64th Street.
