On Saturday, August 24, 2013 the National Action Network will be holding a 50th Anniversary March on Washington in Washington, DC to stand together against the recent attack on voter rights, against Stand Your Ground and racial profiling, and to continue to raise awareness on unemployment, poverty, gay rights and other critical issues affecting our nation.
Fifty years ago the March on Washington changed the nation. It was an historic event that lead to the passage of the very civil rights legislation that ended Jim Crow and began the modern era of civil rights. It brought us our dignity, our humanity and our march to realize the dream that so many had given their lives for.
Milwaukee Matters is organizing to ensure that Milwaukee is well-represented at the March. Milwaukee Matters has arranged for coach buses from Milwaukee to Washington and back with the goal of bringing 1,000 people to the March.
Buses will be $200 per person round trip, significantly cheaper than round trip commercial bus, train or airfare to Washington from Milwaukee.
Buses will leave the intersection of North 54th Street and West Capitol Drive at the Midtown Shopping Center at 12:00pm August 23, 2013.
