Options for homes without electricity

July 19, 2013

Milwaukee County households who are faced with utility disconnection have options when seeking to reestablish power to provide some relief from the heat wave plaguing the area.

The Social Development Commission (SDC) reminds residents who have been disconnected or face disconnection of their electricity can apply for Energy Assistance Crisis funding.

There are still Crisis funds available for households at SDC sites located at 4041 N. Richards Street, 2701 S. Chase Avenue, and 6848 N. Teutonia Avenue.

These SDC centers are open on weekdays from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm to process applications for the Crisis funding to help restore electrical service. For additional information on the Energy Assistance Program including Crisis help, visit the Social Development Commission website at www.cr-sdc.org/index/Programs–Services/Support-Services/Energy-Assistance.htm.

Residents can also call the SDC Energy Assistance Hotline at 414-906- 2800.
