Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett kicked off the ninth annual Ceasefire Sabbath at a breakfast gathering on Wednesday at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Mayor Barrett will also visit five places of worship on Sunday, June 9th to engage the faith community in an effort to fight violence and promote safety in the Milwaukee.
In honor of the victims of mass shootings this past year as well as the victims of shootings that occur every day in the US , Mayor Barrett asks Milwaukee’s religious leaders to reflect on the lives lost and take a stand against gun violence during services the weekend of June 7th-9th.
The 9th Annual Ceasefire Sabbath breakfast featured, Mayor Tom Barrett, Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, Pastor Kristin Berglund, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Rev. Anthony Caples, MCW Violence Prevention Initiative and Pamela Collins, mother of a homicide victim.
