Job opportunities and more

May 4, 2013

The economy may be on the road to recovery but many Milwaukee area residents still find themselves looking for family supporting work. The free event will be held Saturday, May 18 from 10 am to 3 pm at Greater New Birth Church located at 8237 W. Silver Spring Drive. The SDC Job and Resource Fair will offer in one location a wide range of services that can help an individual or family.

The Fair will gather a number of local employers who are looking to hire workers. It will also feature training and support programs that can help get a person ready for a new or a better paying job. Businesses and training programs scheduled to be at the fair include Job Corps, the Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards, PNC and Guaranty Banks, and Diva/ Divo.

Many other valuable resources will be at the SDC fair to offer their services to the public. They include Driver’s License Recovery, Child Support Debt Reduction, health screenings, financial education, housing resources, public safety and education. Attendees will also be able to talk with a “Mentor for the Day”, a volunteer who can help design a plan to maximize the resources available at the fair based on the needs of the attending individual.

The Spring Community Job and Resource Fair is a partnership between the Social Development Commission and Greater New Birth Church to gather many programs and services at one location for the convenience of the public. It is free and open to the public. To learn more about the Job and Resource Fair, visit the SDC website at www.cr-sdc.org.
