Do not look down on people or yourself

March 1, 2013

Rev. Dr. Grace Akande-Agboola, Senior Pastor

This kind of attitude is not God. Why? Because that sister or that brother, wife/husband you are looking down upon, may be your savior tomorrow. No one knows the future. If we are looking at someone’s present situation to mal-treat, or speak negative things against them, we are sinning. God called you and me to encourage, to up-lift, to exalt, others. Remember, you are not their creator! God created them and He knows that their present, past and future, which is not known to you.

Remember the story of Joseph when he had a dream about his future, and what God wanted to do in his life. He revealed it to his father and his brothers because of the love he had for them. Read Genesis 37:1-11. But the story was different in the heart of his brothers; he was hated, envied and jealous for the gift. They looked down on him and tried their best to make sure the dream did not come through. But they had forgotten that there is someone up there that knows and sees the hearts of mankind. They had forgotten that he (Joseph) was a handy work of God and not man made. But God proved them wrong and turned their evil deeds to a road of elevation for Joseph. From the pit to the palace, the dream finally came to pass. He was the one God used later to save his father and brothers from famine. Read Genesis 43.

A child that keeps failing in school is not meant to be a failure in his/her life. We are not to abuse him/her but to help and encourage them. Speak to them about life and success and help them with prayer. We do not know what a child can become tomorrow. Let them know about the Lord Jesus Christ. Let them know that the God does not fail. He is the God of success. Let them know if they serve Him, lean on Him and let Him be their strength and their helper, He will turn failure into success for them. They don’t need to look down on themselves, nor allow anyone else to look down on them. The Bible says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).

I serve the Lord Jesus Christ who is success. That is why failure is not my portion. I return failure back to Satan. Walk in the will of God for success. I cannot fail in life. I can only succeed in all my endeavors because I serve the true God.

Feeding yourself and your children with positive words and positive thoughts about self will brighten your day, give you a healthy look on life and keep you going. As a child of God, every part of our body should be used as an instrument of righteousness and not for wickedness.

As the word says in Galatians 5:24-25, why? Because if we say we have given up on Satan and we have given our life to Christ, then we should walk like Him, think like Him, act like Him. When we walk in the spirit, we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Let us learn to look at things the way Jesus would look at it. No matter what the situation may be, prayer is the key. Be your brother’s/sister’s keeper. Don’t look down on them. Jesus does not look down on you to take you to the level where you are today. You should do also what Jesus would do to that person, that child, to that wife/husband, to that neighbor, or friend.

Criticizing or speaking evil of someone is an open door to the enemy in one’s life; it defiles the body and makes it unclean. That is what many people do not realize. Read Mark 7:21-27. Doing what is right and just in God’s sight shuts the door to any attacks from the enemy. It will make you live a peaceable life.

Prayer Points for Today

Lord Jesus help me in my area of weakness; wash me and make me whole. Release your strength in me and help me to do your will in my life and in my relationship with others, in Jesus name. Help me Holy Spirit to be my brother’s/sister’s keeper to help those who need help, and to be a blessing to their life. Lord Jesus, I ask to le my life be a value to others and that the lives be a value to my life. Help me Holy Spirit to look at what you created the way You look at it. Help me to see them the way You see them and to do to them what You Lord, will do for Your name to be glorified. Holy Spirit, I ask to let people see You in me and let me see You in the, for God’s glory! And, Lord Jesus, I trust Your will on my life, my children, husband/wife, neighbor, friends and family and we thank You for taking the glory.
