Local bar hosts event for cancer awareness on Sat., Nov. 24

November 24, 2012

On Saturday, Nov. 24 at 8:00 pm, Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall (1920 S 37th Street) will host the 2nd Annual Moustachio Bashio to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues with an emphasis on prostate and male cancer initiatives.

The event is a collaboration between business owner Andy Kochanski and a local Movember team the Stachitects and Engibeards which is comprised of local architectural designers and friends.

Movember, celebrated in the month of November, is dedicated to growing moustaches to raise awareness and vital funds for men’s health worldwide to address prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. To date, the movement has raised over $299,000,000 globally and registered more than 1.9 million participants around the world. Between November 1st and 30th, participants grow out their sponsored mustaches to raise awareness and inspire discussion.

Stachitects and Engibeards, one of the teams in the Milwaukee network, has moustache brothers and sisters committed to the effort and this year they wanted to continue the Moustachio Bashio fundraiser. A night of live music, moustaches, and entertainment will take place at Kochanski’s Concertina & Beer Hall, located in the Burnham Park neighborhood.

Bands for the event include Everyday Motive, Matthew Davies and the Thriftones, Revomatics and a barbershop quartet.

Business owner Andy Kochanski, musicians and other participants are committed to honoring those men out there facing health challenges like prostate cancer. Stachitects and Engibeards want to let Milwaukeeans know that there are groups out there committed to the effort and how in collaboration we can make a difference.
