Yes, a year has flown by that fast, Milwaukee is one weekend away from its most anticipated festival for the African American community, and the community at large that can appreciate the essence of the globe representing Africa.
This year African World Festival will take place on August 4 and 5, 2012, once again expanding from a one day event into two on the lakefront at the Maier Festival Park.
As well as extending the festival, the impressive musical lineup is expected to attract many attendees with such R&B and Blues artists to be featured on Saturday’s lineup as Angie Stone, Floyd Taylor, Sheba Pott-Wright, Willie Clayton, Latimore, Boney James, Walter Beasley, and Nick Colionne.
On Sunday, Aug. 5th the lineup includes blues artists such as, Ms. Jody, Clarence Carter, Denise LaSalle and Sir Charles Jones. In gospel the lineup featured artist include, Jessica Reedy, and James Fortune & Fiya. In the area of jazz the lineup will be, The Kevin hayden Trio, Alex Bugnon, Doc Powell, Rick Braun, and Richard Elliot. And once again, an African World Festival favorite, r & b artist Charlie Wilson.
On both days the festival will run from 12 noon, until 12 midnight.
African World Festival, beginning in 1982, is an annual festival that celebrates African American culture and heritage. As well as being a celebration, African World Festival is also an educational experience for all who attend, sharing information about the African American culture to both adults and children.
