A free service that has helped thousands of local families prepare and file their taxes will kick-off its season January 27.
The official start-up of the Milwaukee area tax prep program coincides with National EITC, or Earned Income Tax Credit, Day.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program of the Milwaukee Asset Building Coalition (MABC) will hold the start of their official tax preparation season on Friday, January 27th at 8:30 am. The ceremony will be held at Goodwill Industries at 6055 N. 91st Street in Milwaukee.
Goodwill is one of the sites for the free tax preparation program.
The kick-off will featured guest speakers Alison Gilman Aquino of Edward Jones and Robert Wynn, the President of Akamai LLC. There will also be free tax preparations performed on site from 10 am to 3 pm as well as a free financial literacy workshop that includes a credit score check between 10 am and noon.
This year will be the 11th tax season for the MABC tax program. In the previous ten seasons, more than 100-million dollars in tax refunds and credits including the EITC credit have been returned to Milwaukee County households.
