The Johnny Thomas for City Comptroller Campaign proudly announced the support of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett for Thomas being the next comptroller for the city. The mayor released the following statement this week:
The people of Milwaukee have an important decision to make this spring when it comes to electing a new City Comptroller, the independent chief financial officer of the city. In Milwaukee, the comptroller serves as the financial administrator for approximately 40 city departments and agencies, and is elected every four years.
I hope that you will join me in supporting Johnny Thomas for Milwaukee City Comptroller.
Johnny has proven himself as a leader in Milwaukee. He was elected to the County Board of Supervisors in 2008 and quickly rose through the ranks to serve as the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, which works to set the county budget. Before being elected to the County Board, Johnny worked as a senior accountant and served in the United States Army.
The citizens of Milwaukee need a Comptroller they can trust to ensure our finance system is stable and secure. Johnny has the right mix of public and private sector experience, and the broad vision necessary to be an excellent Comptroller for Milwaukee. He will work to ensure we improve our bond rating and effectively manage our city’s finances to ensure we have the resources necessary to help create jobs.
I hope that you will join me in supporting Johnny Thomas for Milwaukee City Comptroller this spring.
Sincerely, Mayor Tom Barrett
