Milwaukee Youth Council hosts public forum

October 22, 2011

MYC to model budget hearings and solicit public comment from youth.

The Milwaukee Youth Council (MYC) will host a public youth forum on Tuesday, October 25 in the City Hall Common Council Chamber. The 6:30 p.m. event is modeled after past MYC forums, and will resemble the recent public hearings where area youth and invested residents are called on to testify to the MYC their concerns and suggestions for the group. Those interested in speaking must sign up prior to the start of the forum and will be called to testify in the order they signed in.

The Youth Council, composed of young leaders between 14 and 18 years of age, is invested in serving youth in our community and has made progress in drafting a number of potential legislative items related to teen issues. Young people in the city are highly encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to speak publicly on their suggestions and concerns for Milwaukee youth.

The forum will be televised live on City Channel 25 on Time Warner Cable and on AT&T U-Verse (Channel 99) in the City of Milwaukee . It can also be viewed via streaming video on the city website at www.city.milwaukee.gov/Channel25. Go to http://city.milwaukee.gov/YouthCouncil to learn more about the Youth Council.
