State Representatives Leon D. Young (D-Milwaukee) and Elizabeth Coggs (D-Milwaukee) congratulate Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation in receiving over $9.6 million in Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority tax credits for their King Drive Commons IV project. This development project will provide quality retail space and affordable family housing for low- and moderate- income Milwaukeeans in both the 10th and 16th Assembly districts.
“As a member of the WHEDA Board, I am happy to announce this award,” said Rep. Young. “In addition to providing necessary housing, the project will also create muchneeded jobs. I am pleased that WHEDA could come together with Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation to address both of these pressing issues.”
“As the State Representative of the district for the King Drive Commons IV project, I applaud the work of Rep. Leon D. Young and Welford Sanders; the public-private partnerships are adding viable housing opportunities for the residents of Milwaukee ,” Rep. Coggs said.
The tax credits received amount to $960,953 annually for ten years. The King Drive Commons IV project is the fourth phase of the highly successful King Drive Commons development and will provide 45 units of housing for families in need.
