Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. officials are excited to announce the seventh headliner slated for Summerfest 2011. Kanye West will headline the Marcus Amphitheater on Thursday, June 30 at 7:30 PM along with special guest, Kid Cudi.
Influential singer and record producer, Kanye West rose to fame when he achieved recognition for collaborations with artists Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Ludacris and Janet Jackson. In 2004, West released his debut album The College Dropout which included the hits “Through the Wire” and “Jesus Walks”. Four more albums followed in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2010, all of which have gone platinum and received numerous awards, including a cumulative fourteen Grammys. Beyond the Grammy’s, Kanye West has been recognized by the AMA’s, BET Awards, MTV and MTV Europe Music Awards among others. His hit list includes “Gold Digger”, “Stronger”, “Flashing Lights”, “Good Life” and “Heartless”. As if his singing career isn’t enough, West also runs his own record label, GOOD Music which is home to artists like John Legend, Common and Kid Cudi.
Joining Kanye West on tour is GOOD Music label mate, singer and actor, Kid Cudi. In 2009, he gained recognition with his single,“Day ‘n’ Nite”, which reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. “Day ‘n’ Nite” is part of Cudi’s debut album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 26th at 10:00AM and include Summerfest admission. Due to the construction project on the south end of the grounds, the Marcus Amphitheater Box Office has been temporarily relocated to the intersection of Harbor Drive and Chicago Avenue at the Mid- Gate of the festival grounds. The building on the north side of the Mid-Gate will serve as the Marcus Amphitheater Box Office.
Summerfest 2011 will take place June 29 – July 3 and July 5 – 10, from Noon until Midnight daily. Summerfest will be closed Monday, July 4. The World’s Largest Music Festival and Milwaukee’s cornerstone summer celebration attracts the music industry’s hottest stars, emerging talent and local favorites. The Marcus Amphitheater and 10 additional stages, along with a diverse selection of food and beverage vendors, marketplaces and interactive exhibits, are set against the Lake Michigan and downtown backdrops, creating a festival experience like no other.
