Congresswoman Gwen Moore has shown that life’s obstacles can be made into opportunities, and not stop you from earning a college education, and eventually becoming a member of the U.S. Congress. Moore understands that a young single mother, with no money, and an interrupted education path may need a hand up and not a hand out to make it out of poverty. She has walked the walk, and she is an example for African Americans who have faced these same challenges. She has not forgotten her roots, and she makes sure that not only Wisconsin doesn’t miss out on federal opportunities but Milwaukee as well.
