Sam Hagedorn, candidate for 12th Assembly District wants your vote

October 30, 2010

The question that I get most often as I go door to door in the 12th Assembly District is “Why do you want to be a politician?” Well the answer is I don’t want to be a politician, but I got tired of the current office holder trying to kill the Milwaukee Voucher Program along with Charter and Virtual Schools. He doesn’t have the right to over ride the choice of parents so contributors to his campaign can prosper. The current fight over education isn’t really about the child learning, it’s about power and money.

Education is the lifeblood of our future. We must work together to ensure that every child receives the best education available. Schools need to build on the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic with a dose of fine arts and some extracurricular activates. Manners and acceptable behavior need to be taught and enforced. We need to fully support public, charter, choice, virtual and home schooling. We cannot and should not be satisfied with any result that is less than excellent when it comes to the education of our children.

Jobs and job creation is a top priority for the upcoming legislative session. We need to think out of the box to create jobs and opportunities. A fine example is Bishop R.J. Burt and Greater New Birth Church. Taking a run down and empty strip mall on Fond du Lac Ave and Silver Spring they made it into a wonderful worship center and re-opened the closed bowling alley. Christian Faith Fellowship Church and Bishop Darrell Hines did the same, opening Destiny, a thriving school campus. We cannot turn away any opportunity to improve our city and provide jobs. The state needs to stand along with entrepreneurs to help them move their dreams forward by providing them with the best possible business environment, one that taxes less and doesn’t bury the business with over regulation.

We also need to control state spending and be accountable for every penny spent. How can we do this? Like individuals the state needs to stretch available dollars. We can look at duplication of services and eliminate those. We should be very aggressive in finding, eliminating and prosecuting fraud.

As a political newcomer my focus is on getting things done, not playing political games with the lives of people. I believe in Servant Leadership and that means providing those around you with all the tools and opportunities to be successful and not worrying who gets the credit or praise. I’m looking forward to serving each and every person of not only the 12th Assembly District, but everyone in the state of Wisconsin . I humbly ask for your vote on November 2nd.

With Respect,
Sam Hagedorn
Candidate for Wisconsin Assembly, 12th District
