With local foreclosure concerns, and rescue scams on the rise, more and more homeowners are looking for legitimate assistance and additional resources to help them avoid losing their homes. In response to this need, the City of Milwaukee, the Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council, Take Root Milwaukee and a number of other nonprofit, government, and lender partners have teamed up to offer a foreclosure prevention event on Thurs., Oct. 21, for troubled homeowners in the Milwaukee area.
Event participants will have the opportunity to meet directly with lenders and local nonprofit housing counselors. Counselors will evaluate borrower’s circumstances and help them to understand the options that they may have when they meet with their lender. Lenders will be there to suggest ways to alleviate delinquencies and to offer mortgage options.
The event will take place at the Destiny Youth Plaza, located at 7220 N. 76th Street, Milwaukee, from 1:30 to 7:30 PM on Oct. 21. The site, which offers plenty of free parking, is on the northeast corner of 76th and Good Hope Road. Borrowers do not need to register for the event – they can arrive any time between 1:30 and 7:30 PM, but they will receive assistance on a first come, first served basis.
For additional questions regarding the event, or to jump start the process of getting free, professional assistance, call the Take Root Milwaukee hotline at (414) 921-4149.
