The Willie D. Davis Scholarship Fund, Inc. held their 19th Annual Awards Luncheon Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom in downtown Milwaukee. The Scholarship Fund dates by to 1992 when Willie D. Davis President/CEO of the Milwaukee Radio Alliance Group and then General Manager, Don Rosette formed the 1290 Scholarship Fund. They presented the first 15 scholarships to Milwaukee area high school graduates to pursue higher education. The fund was re-named in 2005 in honor of Willie D. Davis. This year scholarships were presented to 25 recipients. Over the past nineteen years, more than $1,000,000.00 has been awarded to 450 aspiring college students.
Hupy & Abraham, S.C. formally, Hupy & Associates, S.C. was one of the original sponsors of the 1290 Scholarship Fund and has continued to make many educational donations throughout the years, including the NAACP Scholarship Fund where the fi rm has donated over $100,000.00 in scholarships to benefit local students. Those students are allowed to use the funds to attend the college or university of their choice.
Hupy & Abraham, S.C. expresses their community commitment through supporting educational and safety campaigns and sponsoring programs that support the elimination of hunger. In 2009 the law firm donated over $200,000 to non-profit organizations.
The community has shown their appreciation to the law firm by bestowing a variety of awards and accommodations. Last year the NAACP presented the (MLK) “Martin Luther King Jr. Award” to the law firm for their community service. They were named “Law Firm of the Year” in 2009 by Career Youth Development. They were “Voted Best Personal Injury Lawyers” in Milwaukee 2 years in a row by the public and “Rated Best Lawyers” by professional organizations according to a 2009 poll conducted by the Shepherd Express.
From feeding the needy, fighting for biker’s rights to taking on the tough cases that most law firms wouldn’t take, Hupy and Abraham, S.C. has been there. “We have been here for decades working with and supporting the community.
