Preparing for new jobs
Jobs in the Milwaukee area are evolving and to be ready to get those jobs, area residents need to upgrade their skills. A Community Resource Fair will provide access to those skills for area job-seekers.
The 4th Annual Community Resource Fair is being sponsored by the Social Development Commission and will be held Saturday, May 22 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Parklawn Assembly of God Church at 3725 N. Sherman Boulevard. The day will feature a wide range of valuable resources including employment training opportunities.
Job training services being offered include those of High-Tech Institute Healthcare Training, Job Corps, SERJobs for Peace, Wisconsin Operating Engineers and Wisconsin Regional Training Partnership. Resource Fair attendees will be able to learn how to take advantage of these services which can give them the skills they need to land good paying jobs. Several vendors including Milwaukee Police and UPS will also be recruiting at the event.
In addition to job training, other areas offered at the Community Resource Fair will include healthcare awareness and screenings including a panel discussion on diabetes, starting a small business, financial literacy, driver’s license recovery, education, and housing. The day is free and open to the public. For more information on the Community Resource Fair, please visit the SDC website at www.cr-sdc.org.
