During Easter break, I find that the weather has been warm and neighborhoods come alive with residents cleaning their yards and performing maintenance on their homes. The warm weather also brings out the young people who have experienced the change of season and would like to experience the outdoors.
Unfortunately, some of the young people who live in our neighborhoods do not respect residents who would like to experience a safe community. This behavior includes loitering, vandalism, foul language, and an increase in pedestrian and vehicular traffic into unsuspecting neighborhoods.
Not all young people are engaged in this type of behavior, but I’m experiencing this issue at an alarming rate of increase. Our most cherished places of peace, our homes, are being jeopardized by an element that has no regard for property, peace, and stability.
This is why I’m calling on Chief Edward Flynn and the Milwaukee Police Department to aggressively enforce the City of Milwaukee’s Curfew Hours (Ord. 106.23—) Loitering of Minors. Parents can be fined no less than $100.00 and no more that $200.00 if their child is not under proper supervision as written in the language of the ordinance.
So we are saying enough is enough!
“It’s 10 p.m. on weekdays, and 11 p.m. on weekends. DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE?”
If you don’t, it’s going to cost you!
