Peace for Change Alliance Inc and Urban Grass Roots will be hosting a Stop the Violence Youth Summit called “Bridging the Gap”. Right now there is a division in Milwaukee County between youth, and adults. Bridging the Gap Youth Summit is designed for youth, and adults to start communicating and work on a solution for the violence that is crippling our communities. Diverse group of leaders and youth will meet to develop strategies to break the “code of silence” and reduce the acceptance of youth violence that pervade the youth culture. This event provides a forum for youth to express their views on the causes of and solutions for violence. Summit activities will help to defuse tensions and build alliances among cliques, adults, ethnic groups, and communities by identify problems and formulate strategies for reducing mistreatment and violence, and foster improved communication between youth and adults.
Saturday, September 10, 10:00am to 2:00pm. at the summit, public officials and youth will be sitting on a panel and will pair-up to work on a solution for the violence that is crippling our communities. At the next summit,they will give an update on the project. Date for 2nd summit yet TBD. 10am Block Clean-up Summit- workshops, guess speakers, Panel disscussion, etc…
