The juried art show takes place on the grounds of Mitchell Park, inside and out side the Domes
The Milwaukee Domes Art Festival returns to Mitchell Park for the second consecutive year with plein air painters, live music and performances, an art auction benefiting the Milwaukee Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservancy Domes, and a variety of food, beverages and fun for the entire family to enjoy. The three-day festival is August 19-August 21, opening from noon to 7 p.m. August 19, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. August 20, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 21. The event is planned by the Friends of the Domes and supported by the Milwaukee County Parks Department and several Wisconsin corporate and nonprofit sponsors. The event is free for kids five and under, and $8 for adults, including free parking and entertainment.
“The Milwaukee Domes Art Festival celebrates a diverse mix of talented artists who will be displaying their craft at this fascinating three-day event,” said Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. “This one-of-a-kind festival allows art lovers and enthusiasts to witness the creation of unique masterpieces right outside Milwaukee’s unique Mitchell Park Domes.”
The juried art festival has the largest cash prize package than any Wisconsin art event, and offers $10,500 in prize money for participating artists. The exhibited artists work will include paintings, jewelry, ceramics, art glass, small and large sculptures, textiles, t-shirts and posters. The festival’s three jury members are Shelby Keefe, the Pfister’s resident artist; Graeme Reid, the director of the Wisconsin Art Museum; and Katherine Davidson, the owner of CR Davidson Art.
Art Festival participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with all the artists onsite, and then bid on the art displayed at the event in an online silent auction until midnight, August 21 at Milwaukeedomesartfestival.com. Children participants 9 and older can make and take their own masterpieces at the festival when they visit Discovery Worlds Mobile Design It Lab.
