Southeastern Wisconsin’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has named Tony Goff of Goff’s Enterprises, Inc. and Ptosha Davis Leflore of The Lauren Group, LLC., as their Man & Woman of the year. This honor comes after participants spent 10 weeks raising funds in hopes of raising the most and receiving this title.
The two were declared Man & Woman of the Year at the Grand Finale Gala thrown in the participants’ honors on May 20, 2011 at The Pfister Hotel. Now they will move forward and compete for the title of National Man & Woman of the Year, as well as be featured in a full-page advertisement for the campaign and the society in a USA Today advertisement.
Tony Goff raised the majority of his funds through a large scale event put on at the Milwaukee Art Museum on April, 9th. As the President of Goff’s Enterprises, Inc. Tony’s daily motto is “continuous improvement.” He strives to make his businesses a success and never settles for anything less, and what makes Tony unique is that he holds himself to the same standard. He continuously pushes himself to do bigger and better things for his family, friends, company, and community. Tony artfully blends his passions with responsibility, allowing everyone to benefit. With his band “The Boogie Men,” Tony has done many fundraising events for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and decided to continue his involvement by accepting his nomination for Man of the Year.
Ptosha Davis Leflore accepted the title of Woman of the Year in her daughter, Jori Lauren Leflore’s, honor and memory. Ptosha has spent her entire career working to empower individuals, woman in particular and inspires those around her everyday. Ptosha is a leader and brings an experienced and goal-oriented component to the business. She has used her business skills, personal approach, and go-getter attitude to make her campaign a success and fulfi ll her personal goals of raising funds, spreading awareness, and making a difference in honor of her daughter Jori.
Jori is not only the reason why Ptosha is such an active member of the LLS board of trustees and accepted her nomination for Woman of the Year, but she and her mother are an inspiration to all. Jori was a smart, loving 12 year old girl who loved her family, friends, and life. She was diagnosed with Leukemia in the summer of 2009 and lost her life due to related complications in the spring of 2010. Ptosha has worked hard to spread the message in order to help families whom are on journeys similar to her own to cope with blood cancers. Now with the title of “Woman of the Year,” Ptosha can continue her fight for a cure.
The money raised by these participants, combined with that raised by their fellow competitors will go to LLS to help fund research seeking cures and better therapies, and to provide information and support for patients and families; allowing them to have the best possible outcomes throughout their cancer experience. In total, the 9 candidates who competed during the ten week campaign raised over $200,000!
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society runs a Man and Woman of the Year campaign and is honored to declare Tony Goff and Ptosha Davis Leflore this year’s winner.
