The window for eighth-grade students to apply for the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Precollege Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence, known as PEOPLE, a high school precollege preparation and scholarship program opens on Monday, Jan. 27. Completed applications must be received or postmarked by Friday, March 6.
The nationally-known, highly-competitive PEOPLE program started in 1999 and is a college prep scholarship program designed for potential first-generation college and low-income students.
Participation in PEOPLE prepares students to be viable college candidates, with the goal of admission and enrollment at a University of Wisconsin System institution, with an emphasis on attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison. PEOPLE provides college prep services and opportunities such as, tutoring, ACT prep, internships, summer experiences on campus, and UW System college tours.
High school students who complete this rigorous precollege program and are accepted to UW-Madison may be eligible for a four-year tuition scholarship, along with continuing PEOPLE program support services through college graduation. 94% of PEOPLE students enroll into a post-secondary institution.
Families (and eighth-graders) interested in learning more or applying can go online to peopleprogram.wisc.edu/apply. Students must meet applicant eligibility requirements and enroll in one of the partner high schools for the 2020-2021 school year.
