BloodCenter of Wisconsin’s Donor Network will hold its fourth annual Faith-Based and Healthcare Community Luncheon on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Italian Community Center. This event has been held since 2006 as an initiative to generate awareness about the need for organ donation through leadership in the faith-based community. Now that Wisconsin Donor Network is part of BloodCenter of Wisconsin the cause has expanded to also promote blood and marrow donation and the audience now includes leadership in the healthcare community.
This year’s theme is “Collectively Greater, Bringing Awareness to African American Donorship”.
Pastor Pamela Hines of Christian Faith Fellowship Church will be the keynote speaker. Other speakers include Pastor Deborah L. Thomas, Pamela Robbins R.N. and sisters Monique Johnson and Martinique Johnson Coleman of Milwaukee who will share their personal story of donation.
Attendees will receive the tools they need to preach the message about donorship to congregations and share the importance of organ, tissue, blood and marrow donation in the community.
