A holiday celebration for children in foster care

December 12, 2009

When: Sat., Dec. 19, 2009, 1-5 pm

Sponsoring Organizations: Children’s Service Society of Wisconsin (CSS) in partnership with The Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare and Congregations Caring for Children and Families (CCCF). CCCF works in partnership with CSS to recruit foster and adoptive families in the faith community.

Host: St. Marcus School

Where: 2215 North Palmer Street, Milwaukee

Who: 250 foster children and families

Children’s Service Society recently mailed invitations to licensed foster parents, licensed to enjoy a holiday celebration at that includes gift card raffle drawings, family pictures and pictures with Santa, holiday cookie baking, holiday crafts, and other activities. All children will receive special gifts to take home. Foster parents of local congregations licensed through Children’s Service Society will also receive special recognition from Congregations Caring for Children and Families.

St. Marcus School has become a national leader and model for successful, college- preparatory schools that stresses the value of an education to all students, regardless of social or economic backgrounds. With a motto of “No excuses,” graduates are positioned for higher education and community leadership.
