70 organizations, agencies and businesses got the opportunity to help residents access a wide range of services and programs at the 4th Annual Spring Community Job and Resource Fair.
Hundreds of people attended the free daylong event held at the Parklawn Assembly of God Church. There they were able to connect with job training resources and fill out applications for positions.
Residents also learned at a workshop about diabetes and how it impacts families and the community from a panel of local doctors. Other busy areas at the fair included case workers from Child Support Enforcement and the Driver’s License Recovery program. Milwaukee Municipal Judge Derek Mosley met with area residents who needed to see a judge regarding a pending legal case.
Other areas providing valuable information for many people included health resources, education, financial literacy, and housing. The Spring Job and Resource Fair was coordinated by the Social Development Commission (SDC). The agency will host another resource fair at the end of September tentatively scheduled to be hosted by St. Mark’s AME Church.
