On Saturday, September 20th, Kemps appeared at three Roundy’s Supermarkets locations to encourage Wisconsin residents to come together and donate much-needed gallons of milk to their local food banks.
Community members made a difference in their area by visiting a local Roundy’s Supermarket on September 20 to donate gallons of milk to The Great American Milk Drive.
Donations were delivered to local Wisconsin food banks.
The first 200 attendees to the drive received free Great American Milk Drive branded grocery bags.
Donors visited three Pick ‘n Save stores to drop off gallons of milk.
Those sites include the Greenfield store on 4279 S. 76th Street, the Brookfield store on 17630 Bluemound Rd., and one Milwaukee store on 250 W. Holt Ave.
While milk is one of the items most requested by food bank clients, food banks receive the equivalent of less than one gallon of milk per person per year. Since April, thousands of families from coast to coast – including right here in Wisconsin – have benefited from milk donations to The Great American Milk Drive, the first-ever nationwide program to deliver highly necessary and nutrient-rich gallons of milk to hungry families who need it.
The program has generated more than 108,000 gallons to date nationally, and the state of Wisconsin has donated over 6,000 to food banks that serve more than 724,000 families.
In honor of Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month, September is an ideal time to follow in the footsteps of thousands of Americans who have already donated milk to their local food banks.
