MADISON – The following is a statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on on Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional district race.
“Tom Petri’s retirement confirmed that there’s no room for moderates in Scott Walker’s Wisconsin or Paul Ryan’s Congress, as further evidenced by Republicans choosing Glenn Grothman as their nominee tonight.
“Wisconsin already sent one right-wing laughingstock to Washington D.C. in Ron Johnson, we don’t need another who will embarrass our state with plans to criminalize single-motherhood and who literally said he would like to turn back the clock to the 1950s.
“The people of Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional district deserve better than a representative in Congress who makes Michele Bachman and Todd Akin look like reasonable moderates.
“That’s why in November they will get a fresh start by electing a dedicated public servant in Mark Harris who knows how to balance a budget and rise above partisan political fights without sacrificing our shared Wisconsin values.”
