Residents of Milwaukee’s Northwest side and northern suburbs will have the opportunity to select a new representative to the Social Development Commission (SDC) Board.
A Special Election for SDC District One will be held Friday, September 13 between 8am and 6pm. The polling location will be at the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center located at 5460 N. 64th Street in Milwaukee. The district includes Milwaukee’s Northwest side plus northern Milwaukee County suburbs and the City of Wauwatosa.
To vote, a person must be at least 18 years old and a resident of SDC District One for at least ten days.
Residents will be asked to write in the name of a district resident on the ballot. The winner of the election will serve the remainder of the three-year term representing the area on the 18-person SDC Board of Commissioners. The SDC Board helps create and implement policy for the anti-poverty agency which serves Milwaukee County. The previous Commissioner for SDC District One who was elected this past April recently resigned to take a position on the staff of U.S. Senator Ron Johnson.
