A group of high school age youth took steps to better their chances of getting into the college of their choice. They participated in the first of a series of ACT Wings classes at the Social Development Commission (SDC).
The young women and men took part in the free class that prepared them to take the ACT test, an exam that is commonly given to high school students. ACT test results are used by colleges and universities to help determine which high school students are accepted into their institutions as well as who qualifies for scholarship opportunities.
The ACT Wings session showed the young participants what the test will look like, had them take a practice test and then provided evaluation of their results to help them prepare in the future for the real ACT test. The SDC project also gave the students other practices tests and study guides to take home with them for future study.
The goal of the classes is to prepare the youth for the test and help them to score as high as they can on the test. The first free session was held July 18 but others are planned for later in July.
