It will be here before you know it. Enrollment in the Affordable Healthcare Act begins October 1, 2013 with benefits starting January 1, 2014 but there is some confusion about how it will affect residents. Information sessions will shed light on the new healthcare program at the Social Development Commission’s (SDC) 7th Annual Spring Job and Resource Fair.
The daylong fair will be held Saturday, May 18 from 10 am to 3pm at Greater New Birth Church located at 8237 W. Silver Spring Drive. It is designed to offer a wide range of services and opportunities at one location for residents. A representative of the Wisconsin Division of Public Health will be on hand to present afternoon informational workshops on how the Affordable Healthcare Act will impact local residents and how the public can register to participate in it.
In addition, the SDC Spring Job and Resource Fair will provide employers seeking workers and employment training programs for residents who are looking for work. Child Support Debt Reduction Assistance workers and staff from Driver’s License Recovery will also be on hand. Other resources available will include health screenings, financial education, housing resources, education, and public safety.
The fair is free and open to the public and is offered by the Social Development Commission and Greater New Birth Church.
